Sensational start to the season for Yarra Tri |
|
Under sunny skies and in perfect conditions Yarra Tri delivered the performances to match in the opening triathlon of the Victorian season.
There were wins to Kirsten Norden(female elite), Christine Hughes(30-34) and Michael Pratt(45-49). Plus Katie O'Keeffe with Gavin De Kretser in the teams race, although they did fail in their sworn mission to hold off Michael with the aid of a 4 minute head start!
Other athletes to reach the podium were Ali Crichton(30-34), Karen Hill(20-24), Jacinta Vines(40-44), Nick Leman(20-24), Shaun Broadbent(35-39) and Steve Squire(50-54). Fultz switched to the mini race to get a win but was pushed into 2nd spot!
Best of all was the atmosphere in the team marquee, with free massage from Michelle and lots of food and drink to help with the recovery (at least that was my excuse for eating so much!)
Next weekend is the 1/2 Ironman festival at Shepparton, so look out for more good performances there. |

With a forecast of sunny warm conditions there is sure to be a big field and many of YarraTri's best triathletes will be competiting in both the elite and age group categories.
