January Club Update: What a Start to the Year!
January has delivered an incredible start to the year, with standout performances across swimming and triathlon events in Lorne, St Kilda and ECHUCA!
Early in the month, Nigel produced a truly world-class performance at the iconic Pier to Pub Swim in Lorne, taking out the 50+ category against an exceptional field that included elite and Olympic-level swimmers. A phenomenal achievement on one of the most renowned open-water courses in the world. Congratulations Nigel!
Down in St Kilda, Yarra Tri Club athletes were out in force at the recent triathlon event, competing across Sprint and Olympic distances as well as the Australian Para Triathlon Championships.
There were outstanding wins for Braelan, Michael, John and Karyn, with Andre securing an impressive 3rd place in the Para Championships. Strong racing was also on display from Simon, Florian, Joshua and Jackson, rounding out a terrific team performance. What a showing from the club!
Up in Echuca, athletes tackled challenging conditions along the Murray River, delivering great racing in the heat. Karyn and Braelan both claimed wins, with Tom finishing a strong 3rd. The momentum continued the following day in the river swim, with Braelan backing up for 2nd place and Tom finishing 6th! An outstanding effort across a big weekend of racing.
Congratulations to everyone who competed, supported, and represented the club so proudly. An amazing start to the year; we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
