Yarra Tri Club Shines at the 2025 World Triathlon Championship Finals in Woolongong

Some of our most high performing members headed to Woolongong for the 2025 World Triathlon Championship Finals. 

Our athletes didn’t just show up, they dominated:

• Trent Dawson (40–44) – World Champion in Standard Distance Aquabike and Mixed Team Relay, and Bronze in the Sprint Triathlon.

• Penny Nevill (35-39) - World Champion in Sprint Distance Triathlon.

• Nigel Fanning (50-54) - World Champion in Aquabike.

• John Allen (80-84) - Silver Medallist Standard Distance Triathlon.

• Tristan Mioni (35-39) - 4th Sprint Distance Triathlon and 6th in Standard Distance Triathlon.

• Karyn Fitts (65-69) - 5th (1st Aussie!) Standard Distance Triathlon

• Muireann O'Shea (25-29) 17th in Standard Distance Triathlon

Yarra Tri Club Members on the run at Melbourne Marathon and Chicago!

Massive congratulations to our YarraTri members who have achieved great results in some recent long distance runs:

• Grace smashed out a 10minute PB in the half at the Melbourne Marathon! Congratulations Grace, incredible effort, training is paying off!
• Emily completed her third marathon at Melbourne Marathon! Awesome effort Emily.
• Marg absolutely nailed her training in the lead up to the Chicago marathon and made us proud! Congratulations Marge, what an extraordinary and memorable achievement!

AusTriathlon Vic Club Championships – Race 4: Sandringham

Date: Sunday 8 February 2026
Also part of: State Champs & 2XU Triathlon Series

This event is not only a key race in the State Championships and 2XU Triathlon Series, it also doubles as the AusTriathlon Vic Club Championships. Points earned here go towards crowning Victoria’s Club Champions – including special awards for smaller clubs like ours.

How Club Championship Points Work:

• Club Champions – Every club member racing earns 1 point for their club. (Perfect for small clubs to make an impact!)
• Club Age Group Racing Champions – Points are awarded to athletes finishing in the top 5 of their age group category:

• • 1st: 5 points

  • 2nd: 4 points

  • 3rd: 3 points

  • 4th: 2 points

  • 5th: 1 point

• Club Para & Multiclass Champions – Points for para-athletes and multiclass categories.

• Club Women in Triathlon Champions – In the spirit of promoting female participation, this award recognises the club with the most women racing at Club Champs.
